Hashtag Strategy
/hashtag-strategy
Claude Code builds hashtag sets organized by reach tier (niche, mid-range, broad) for each platform you're active on. It recommends which combination to use per post type and audience size to maximize discoverability without competing against accounts with millions of followers.
What this skill does
Research and categorize hashtags by reach tier: niche (under 100k posts), mid-range (100k to 500k), and broad (500k+)
Build rotating hashtag sets to prevent overuse penalties on Instagram's algorithm
Adapt hashtag strategy by content type: educational posts, promotional posts, and engagement posts
Recommend the right number of hashtags per platform based on current algorithm behavior
How to use it
Share your niche and platforms
Describe your industry, content topics, target audience, and which platforms you need hashtag sets for.
Run /hashtag-strategy
Share your current follower count per platform so Claude Code can calibrate hashtag reach tiers to your account size.
Build your rotating sets
Create 4 to 6 rotating hashtag sets from the output so you're not using the same set on every post.

Frequently asked questions
How many hashtags should I use on Instagram?
3 to 5 highly relevant hashtags outperform 30 broad ones for smaller accounts. Instagram's algorithm has shifted toward interest-based distribution over hashtag-based discovery. Claude Code recommends sets sized to your account's follower count and engagement rate.
Do hashtags still work on LinkedIn?
Yes, but differently. LinkedIn uses hashtags for content categorization and creator discovery. 3 to 5 relevant hashtags placed at the end of the post help LinkedIn surface your content to followers of those hashtags. Claude Code selects tags with 50k to 500k followers for the best visibility-to-competition ratio.
Should I use the same hashtags every post?
No. Rotating sets prevent potential shadowbanning on Instagram and keep your content from appearing in the same hashtag feeds repeatedly, which reduces reach diversity. Claude Code creates rotating sets designed to be used in a defined rotation.
