Frequently asked questions
What length should title tags be?
Google typically displays 50 to 60 characters before truncating. Claude Code writes within 55 characters by default to ensure full display on both desktop and mobile. You can request longer versions for title tags that intentionally use truncation as a curiosity hook.
Does optimizing meta descriptions directly affect rankings?
Meta descriptions are not a ranking factor, but they directly affect CTR which sends a behavioral signal to Google. Higher CTR relative to expected CTR for your position can help maintain or improve rankings. Claude Code focuses descriptions on driving clicks, not keyword density.
How do I handle duplicate meta descriptions across a large site?
Claude Code can generate templated meta description patterns for product or category pages where manual writing at scale isn't feasible. It creates templates with dynamic variables that you populate from your product database.
